"I am very passionate about being a nurse and providing care to those in need. My career started as a Medical Surgery nurse for 11 years and I moved from there to staff and patient education. I became a certified diabetes educator in 1999 and worked in an out-patient diabetes education program for 5 years "When the opportunity became available to work in the chronic clinic here and to educate people about diabetes and also provide hands on care and have some input as to their treatments I felt that this was an ideal situation.." |
"So as you can see I was driven to care for patients with chronic diseases with no preference one way or another about their financial situation. As I have become more involved in the free clinic and caring for uninsured patients I have found this to be extremely rewarding because I can truly help people who have no other resources and I can see the impact that this clinic has on the quality of their lives. Often times I think we provide not only medical care but we are a resource for many areas of their lives, such as housing and employment opportunities." |
