Pre-NCAFC:
1991 First Indigent Care Conference held in Raleigh, NC
1994 Indigent Care Conference held in Winston-Salem, NC
1996 Indigent Care Conference held in Fayetteville, NC
1997 Indigent Care Conference held in Lexington, NC
· Exploratory meeting held at conference with those interested in creating a free clinic association
· Initial Board of Directors approved bylaws November 11, 1997
· North Carolina Indigent Care Association Inc., received its Articles of Incorporation on November 14, 1997
NCAFC:
1998 First NCICA Conference held in Asheville, NC
· Twenty-eight free clinics and pharmacies joined during NCICA’s first membership
  drive
· Dr. Don Lucey elected first president of NCICA
· Start-up funding received from NCAPA, Kate B. Reynolds and the Janirve Foundation
· First financial support received from NC Medical Society
· Started DBA NCAFC, developed logo and marketing plan
1999 First NCAFC Conference held in Wilmington, NC
· $306,750 distributed to members from NC Attorney General’s settlement fund
· First Executive Directors’ Retreat held at Caraway Conference Center
· NCAFC Member Resource Manual Developed
· Glenn Pierce appointed Volunteer Executive Director

· Legislative Resource Guide developed
· NCAFC begins negotiations with FDA on sample medication regulation

 Marketing and Development project
· Awarded grant from The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC Foundation to
  conduct a Technology Assessment
· Successfully pilot-test TAP-IN project for recruiting retired physicians; full
   launch scheduled for Spring 2007

2007 Ninth NCAFC Annual Conference held in Greensboro, NC
· Nancy Hudson elected as Board President
· Seventy members of NCAFC
· Fourth Year funding from BCBSNC Foundation disbursed

  Free Clinic members receive Economic Boost Grants from BCBSNC Foundation

  BCBSNC Foundation/NCAFC introduce Clinical Outcomes Program

  NCAFC hosts Lunch & Learn sessions across the state for NC MedAssist, central fill

  program

     2010 Twelfth NCAFC Annual Conference held in Greenville, NC

  Centralized pharmacy program - formally called NC MedAssist available

    statewide to all North Carolinians

  Seventy Nine members of NCAFC

  Free Clinic members receive BCBSNC Outcomes grant for demonstrated
